Experimental investigation and crashworthiness analysis of 3D printed carbon PA automobile bumper to improve energy absorption by using LS-DYNA

This research work aimed to enhance the crashworthiness of existing automobile bumper minimize crash injuries. As per simulation results weight carbon polyamide-based is reduced in comparison with steel by 9.7 kg or 47.5%, this reduction 38% increase fuel economy has been estimated. The energy absorption capability polyamide improved from and aluminum 11.15% 16.3% respectively modification, impact force bumper, which 4.87 kN alloy 4.10–1.86 kN. parameter result analysis showed that corrugated geometry had a structural (SEA), total (TEA), crush efficiency (CFE) 103.28 J/kg, 911 J, 77.99%, higher than hallow 102.4 847 65.83% respectively. In addition that, as thickness 4 mm 3.5, 3, 2.5 mm, deformation increased small rate 13.5 16.7, 18.52, 22.04 mm.
